CCM Dakar Rally #604 1998
Rotax engine. One owner from new. Last rode in 1999.
Originally built by the CCM factory in August 1998
This is one of three built by the factory, the other 2 destined for the official Dakar rally ridden by Vinny Fitzsimmons and Simon Pavey, CCM entered a 2-man factory team in 1999, which went onto win the manufacturers team prize for 100% finish rate.
This bike only raced in UK national events like the Hafren Rally and Welsh 2 day in dual sport trim. All plastics including tank seat, side panels, mudguards, headlights & centre stand are supplied with the bike.
The bike was then kept in storage for the next 20 plus years. An opportunity arose for Nick Craige's original 1998 Dakar bike to appear on the CCM stand at 2021 Motorcycle Live. The navigation tower had been lost in storage over the proceeding 20 yrs, a new navigation tower using the original Dakar bike as a donor. Ted Unwin the original engineer who made the 3 Dakar Bikes in 1998 was commissioned to make new jigs to create a copy of the missing navigation tower including the oil cooler and headlight cowl. The only modernisation being to fit a carpe-iter navigation tablet.
Believed to be one of only 2 remaining examples.
This bike is eligible for most of the classic events now including The Sand raiders events. It's on the button and ready to role.
